We are excited to announce that the Verizon 5G Edge Blog is now officially accepting contributions!

We started the Verizon 5G Edge Blog to help build a community around 5G Edge. Through this channel, we wanted to find people who were just as passionate as we are about the technology, applications and promise of 5G. As the publication and the technology have evolved, we now offer 5G Edge in over 10 cities; we’ve launched a developer portal; and we’ve teamed up with companies such as Redis Labs, Red Hat and more.

And as the 5G Edge community continues to grow rapidly, we want to make sure that all the content being produced — from demo videos, architecture diagrams and 1:1 interviews — has a home. And what better home than right here?

One thing we know about this vibrant community of 5G developers is that you’re generating a lot of innovative new ways to put 5G and mobile edge computing (MEC) to use. And we’d love for you to share your insights. If you have an idea that you think your fellow developers would find insightful, consider submitting a post to our blog.

What we’re looking for

There are a wide range of 5G topics that could be covered in a guest blog post. Chances are, if you find the topic interesting, so will your peers. So here’s what we’re looking for:

• Tutorials on how to do something interesting on 5G Edge — no matter how easy or complex
• Best practices and lessons learned from building applications on 5G Edge
• All things 5G networks and beyond: everything from industrial internet of things (IoT) and hybrid networking to SD-WAN and VNS Application Edge is fair game

Style guide

It’s fairly simple to write a useful and engaging blog post. As you get started, take a look at some of our previous blog posts, and follow these simple guidelines:

• Use GitHub® for your code snippets to ensure that your code is well formatted
• Get creative! Select an elegant image (that you have the rights to use), and we’ll do our best to incorporate it
• Show, don’t tell: Include snippets of reference architectures, workflow diagrams or anything else that can help tell your story best
• Replace adjectives with data: Whenever possible, use specific descriptions (e.g., network performance increased by 15 bps) over generic ones (e.g., we made the network faster)
• Give credit where credit is due: Include links to the original source of information when you reference articles or other resource materials. Also, when referring to existing social media posts or Medium® stories, type @ followed by the profile (e.g., @verizon5gedgeblog)
• Minimize the promo: We offer a great platform for learning and truly value your input. At the same time, we seek to avoid promotions about companies or personal ventures in this publication. To help us maintain that balance, if you’d like to include a link to your social media or website, please include that link in a short bio
• Tell us about yourself. If you’d like, include a short description of yourself. Write a 25-to-50-word bio with a high-level description of your work experience and a link to your professionally relevant social media account or website
